Updated October 6, 2026. This product notice supplements the TrueGrit AI Privacy Notice for TrueGrit Formatter, an Office add-in for reviewing and correcting document formatting.
Formatter reads the open document through Microsoft's Office APIs. Formatting analysis, court rules, and PDF preview run in the add-in on your device. The hosted add-in has no TrueGrit document-upload endpoint. Word and your Microsoft account control document storage, synchronization, and saving.
If you enter an OpenAI API key, Formatter sends prompts, selected text, and relevant document context directly to OpenAI for the AI features you invoke. AI landmark assistance can send document context during formatting. With No AI selected or no key entered, formatting uses document heuristics and does not make OpenAI requests.
Saving a key checks model access with OpenAI. Dictation records audio after you start recording and grant microphone access; the recording is sent to OpenAI for transcription. Audio is held in memory for the request and is not saved by Formatter. OpenAI's terms and data practices apply to API requests.
If you explicitly select a local Claude or Codex connection on Mac, document context passes through the paired local companion to the selected vendor CLI. The CLI may send that context to its provider. A local connection does not mean that the model runs offline. Vendor terms and data practices apply.
Document revisions used for comparisons are stored in this add-in's IndexedDB database. Formatter keeps the current and previous revision; old entries are pruned after 30 days when the store is opened. Court selection and AI preferences use browser storage. An API key remains in memory unless you select Remember key. A local pairing token is stored separately.
Forget key removes the active and remembered API key. Choosing No AI also removes a remembered key. Clear the add-in's browser data to remove saved preferences, pairing tokens, and revisions. Removing the add-in alone may leave browser data. The optional Mac companion's uninstall removes its own pairing state and certificate trust, while preserving documents and vendor CLI authentication.
Cloudflare serves the add-in and optional installer and may process request metadata, such as IP address, requested URL, timestamp, and browser information, to deliver and secure them. Formatter does not add advertising or analytics scripts. Microsoft supplies the Office runtime. Information you email to support is handled under the company Privacy Notice.
